Piwi has been first launched as a programming block in July 9, 2002. The early version was created by EnSky Studios and Sparx Animation Studios.

Piwi has been launched as a TV channel in December 3, 2003.

Following its name change May 17, 2011, the channel adopts a new look lively and assertive colors created by the Spanish Soul Vector.
