Play5, known from 2012 to 2021 as VIJF (meaning five in Dutch) and before then as VIJFtv, is a female-oriented commercial TV channel owned by Belgian Dutch broadcaster SBS Belgium, itself a subsidiary of Telenet (Liberty Global). Its competitors are the VTM-branded channels of DPG Media, and the public broadcaster VRT.

Play5 2021

On 28 January 2021, VIER, VIJF and ZES were renamed to Play4, Play5 and Play6, respectively, in advance of the new women’s channel Play7 launching in April 2021. The rebrand consolidates all television channels owned by Telenet (the owner of SBS Belgium), which also owned Play Sports and Play More premium channels.

This move is similar to the renaming of competitors Q2, Vitaya and Caz to VTM 2, VTM 3 and VTM 4, respectively, on 31 August 2020.
