In November 2000, UK Play was rebranded to Play UK. The channel was the first to get a new UKTV look, with UK Horizons, UK Drama, UK Style and UK Gold getting it on only May 8th, 2001.
On July 30th, 2002 it was announced that Play UK would shut down at the end of the year, with the closure of ITV Digital being the reason for its demise. The channel closed on September 30th at 12am, with its EPG space being used to launch UK History (now U&Yesterday) on October 30th as part of the launch of Freeview.
