Because of the reunification of Germany in general and East & West-Berlin specifically, SFB 1 was renamed to "Berlin 88,8", so as to give the station a name that reflects its new broadcasting area, that being all of Berlin.

2005–2019[]
"88acht - Das Stadtradio" became "Radio Berlin" in 2005. The "I" in Berlin is intended to look like the Fernsehturm.
