On the first 3 years after Emissora Nacional changed to RDP, the Portuguese designer João Celorico proposed this logo but it was never officially used by the broadcaster. Until 1979, on advertising, instead of a logo, uas used the name Rádiodifusão Portuguesa, E.P., but without any specified font.
They changed its name to Radio e Televisão de Portugal in March 2004, and the logo was adopted, after Radiotelevisão Portuguesa, along with the radio counterpart, reorganized RTP.
