In 1994, the company changed its name to Rainbow Studios. They also briefly used the name Rainbow America until 1995.
1998–1999[]
2000–2008[]
In November 2001, THQ announced their plans to acquire Rainbow for 1 million shares of common stock. The deal was completed in January 2002.
2009–2010, 2014–present[]
In 2010, THQ renamed Rainbow to "THQ Digital Studio Phoenix" to focus more on downloadable titles, and in 2011 as part of restructuring efforts they shut down the studio. In 2013, Nordic Games acquired and reopened the studio and restored the original Rainbow name. In 2024, Rainbow separated from THQ Nordic, once again becoming independent due to major resturcturing at Embracer Group.
