On September 10, 2014, Real Salt Lake announced the creation of a development team named Real Monarchs SLC, to join the USL PRO in 2015, in conjunction with the construction of a new soccer stadium located at the Utah State Fairpark.[1]

On November 3, 2014, Real Salt Lake officially announced a new development team, Real Monarchs SLC, while also unveiling the team logo.[2]
