The Chain Belt Company was renamed to Rex Chainbelt. The company had been selling "Rex" branded bearings since 1917 and they had become Chain Belt's flagship product.
Rex Chainbelt was renamed to Rexnord in January 1973, reflecting their August 1970 merger with rock-crushing equipment manufacturer Nordberg Manufacturing Company.
