Ripley is the department store brand part of the multinational of the same name, owned by the Calderón family and founded as such in 1964.

1964–1976[]

Ripley 1964

In 1964, Royal is converted into a department store and adopts the definitive name of "Ripley". The origin of the name is based on the last name of the author of Ripley's Believe It or Not!, Robert LeRoy Ripley, as a way of homage. That same year, the first logo was launched under the name of Ripley, which was the letters "Ripley" in Century Schollbook Bold Italic typography, occasionally on a circle.

1976–1993[]

Ripley 1976

In 1976, Ripley made his first makeover with his current name, consisting of a white "R" of curves and thick lines surrounded by a red rounded rectangle, below, the name "Shopping Center" in Helvetic typography and below, the word "Ripley" in an extravagant version of Bauhaus Bold and with the same "R" of the logo, all surrounded by a white rounded rectangle with a black border.

1993–2009[]

1993–2002[]

Ripley 1993

In 1993, the brand name that would be Ripley's current identification for 26 years to date is adopted. The logo was the letters "RIPLEY" in a typography similar to ITC Gallliard Normal, where the "R" and the "P" stand out with cuts in their bases, the slightly low leg of the "R" and the curved part in the upper right of the "Y", all black, occasionally white on a black background. In stores, this logo was used in several stores in Chile and Peru (with white-lined letters) and in advertising it was used until 2002, however it continued to be used as a corporate logo until March 2009.

2002–2009[]

Ripley 2002

In 2002, a partial change was made to Ripley's corporate image, in which the name of the store is surrounded on a black rectangle. This logo was only used in Ripley advertising in that period.

2009–present[]

Ripley 2009

On March 18, 2009, Ripley launched its new corporate image. This time the appearance of the white letters is modified slightly and with rounded edges, all surrounded by a black rectangle, being the first time the black rectangle was actually part of the Ripley logo and under the rectangle with letters, several red, purples, yellows, whitish gray, light red and white rectangles sorted in ascending order. Until 2011, it was only used in advertising and since 2012 also as a logo for current stores, with slightly modified elements.

2016–present[]

Ripley 2016

On January 5, 2016, a slight change of image was made, in which the letters ".com" inclined upwards and to the left of the logo are added to the current logo, these letters in black (or white on a black background) and in Century Gothic Bold typography.
