Southwestern Bell was established as Missouri and Kansas Telephone Company in 1882, and was renamed Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1921 and again as Southwestern Bell in 1964.

In 1999, the SBC Global Network's logo was added to the side of the logo, which received a new wordmark.

This logo started to be used at a corporate level after its acquisition of Pacific Telesis.
2001–2005[]
This was the final logo that SBC used before it merged with AT&T in 2005. The center of the B became the same diamond shape as the S and the C, as opposed to the star used previously.
