In 2007, the group was acquired by the German media group ProSiebenSat.1 Media until the early 2010s when its assets were dispersed and subsequently acquired by other companies:

• The Nordic operations were bought by Discovery, Inc. (now Warner Bros. Discovery) and became SBS Discovery Media (which was later absorbed into Discovery Networks),
• The Dutch operations were acquired by Talpa Network and Sanoma (now fully owned by Talpa and became Talpa TV),
• The Belgian operations were sold to De Vijver Media (now owned by Telenet, a division of Liberty Global) and became the only company which still uses the SBS moniker.
