In 26th January 1979, Ernesto Geisel, former President of Brazil signed a decree and grants a concession of Channel 3 of Nova Friburgo to Grupo Silvio Santos, during this time, the group was controlling Channel 11 before getting the concession. However, the station was an relay broadcaster of Channel 11. In 5th June 1982, TV Nova Friburgo was renamed to TVS Nova Friburgo until 1990.
