SCTV, initially named Surabaya Centra Televisi, was formed as a local television station in Surabaya and several East Java cities (Bojonegoro, Sidoarjo, Gresik) by Bimantara Citra (now Global Mediacom) to relay RCTI programs on August 24, 1990.
In 1991, SCTV expanded its coverage to Bali and its abbreviation became Surya Citra Televisi.
1990–2003
BETTER LOGO NEEDED |
This updated version of the logo had appeared in idents around 1990 and 1991 and was officially introduced on August 24, 1993, as SCTV began to air nationwide together with RCTI, following with the headquarters move from Surabaya to Jakarta.
In the mid-1990s, SCTV began to produce its own shows, therefore it was no longer received programs from RCTI with the exception of news programs until 1996 when Liputan 6 was created.
