Surya Citra Televisi (abbreviated as SCTV) is the second-oldest privately owned Indonesian television channel (after RCTI) and the third-oldest Indonesian television channel (after TVRI), as well as the one of the most-watched channels in the country.
It launched on August 24, 1990, and it is owned by Emtek (through its subsidiary Surya Citra Media).

The initially-named Surabaya Centra Televisi was formed as a local television station in Surabaya and several East Javan cities (Bojonegoro, Sidoarjo, Gresik) by Bimantara Citra (now Global Mediacom) to relay RCTI programs on August 24, 1990.
In 1991, SCTV expanded its coverage to Bali & changed its full name to Surya Citra Televisi.
1990–2003
This logo, appearing in idents from 1990 and 1991, was officially introduced on August 24, 1993, as SCTV began to air nationwide together with RCTI, following the moving of their headquarters from Surabaya to Jakarta.
In the mid-1990s, SCTV began to produce its own shows, therefore no longer receiving programs from RCTI (with the exception of news programs, until the creation of Liputan 6 in 1996).
