SCTV is the second-oldest privately owned Indonesian television channel (after RCTI) and the third-oldest Indonesian television channel (after TVRI), as well as one of the most-watched television channels in the country.
It was launched on 24 August 1990, to relay RCTI shows in Surabaya and other cities on East Java. Today, it is broadcasting nationwide and owned by Emtek, through its subsidiary Surya Citra Media.

This logo was appearing on idents throughout 1990 and 1991, and was officially introduced in July 1993 when SCTV began to air nationwide together with RCTI. On 1 June 1997, SCTV began using the slogan SCTV NgeTop!. Later in 1998, SCTV completely moved their headquarters to Jakarta from Surabaya.
