SIC was launched in 1992. The original logo was designed by [[Hans Donner]] (designer of the famous Rede Globo logo). In fact, [[Globo Comunicação e Participações]] had a small piece of ownership (near 15%) during the launch, which resulted in the first ID being strikingly similar to that of Rede Globo's 1992 ID, and also why many of Rede Globo's idents were shown during the channel's theme song (except that they cut the parts where the Globo logo was shown).

Globo sold its shares in 2003, in an attempt to clear of its debt (the same sale that led to the creation of TV TEM).

For the first time since 1997, SIC updated its logo on 6 October 2018 at 13:00 local time, to coincide with its 26th year on air. The letters are clearer and the reflections have been reduced, but the essential structure of the logo has been maintained.
