In 1979, designer Piero Gratton, designed a new logo for Lazio, featuring a stylized flying eagle.

In 1982, a new stylised eagle designed by Cesare Benincasa (the chairman of Marksport) was adopted as logo by SS Lazio, which became a part of the iconic maglia bandiera ("flag jersey") worn by the team in the 1982-83 season, whose design is replicated on the institutional version of the crest.
