Sailor Moon (Japanese: 美少女戦士セーラームーン, Hepburn: Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn, originally translated as Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon and later as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon) is a Japanese magical girl anime television series based on the manga Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi. Produced by Toei Animation, the series aired on TV Asahi from March 7, 1992 to February 8, 1997.

In 2011, Toei Animation began relaunching the show globally and a more standardized international logo was created. On May 16, 2014, Viz Media acquired the North American distribution rights to Sailor Moon from Toei Animation Inc.
