Typography:  Custom
Launched:  June 1999

In June 1999, Sainsbury's unveiled its new corporate identity developed by M&C Saatchi and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. It included a new wordmark and new corporate colours of "living orange" and blue. The typeface "Interstate" was adopted for general use, including the font for the new slogan, "Making life taste better" and updated staff uniforms. This new brand statement was created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

The "Interstate" typeface was retired in favour of an new informal font in 2005 which was used in a wide range of advertising and literature. That font has also since been replaced by the "Mary Ann" typeface - more infomation here.
