The 1993 logo was modified slightly by decreasing the kerning between the letters and the stroke thickness. This was introduced at the same time as the Imagine advertising campaign, launched on 9 June 2005.
Since 2015, Samsung Electronics has preferred to use the wordmark in favour of the oval logo in advertising and most other applications. The oval logo remains in use as the Samsung Group corporate logo, as well as many of their other subsidiaries.
