In 2009, Samsung introduced the S5PC110 mobile processor, also known as Hummingbird. The same processor was later used on the first Samsung Galaxy S in 2010.

In 2011, Samsung introduced the Exynos brand of processors, with the Hummingbird chip was renamed to Exynos 3 Single.
Samsung announced they would be replacing the Exynos CPUs with a new CPU on December 15th, 2020, but later that month, on December 18th, 2020, Samsung announced they had changed their minds and their new CPU would be under the Exynos brand.
