Fox Searchlight Pictures was founded on April 29, 1994 but did not start using a logo until 1996. During this period of time, the company didn't have an animated opening sequence like its sister company 20th Century Fox (currently known as 20th Century Studios) and instead, it was only used a static image as a closing logo seen on-screen in the post-credits of their films. It uses the same background as it's sister company.

In 1996, the render of the logo was modified and the company started to use an opening sequence, similar to the one used by its sister company between 1994 and 2010. It also uses the same fanfare from its sister company. This logo debuted in Blood and Wine, and last appeared in Cedar Rapids, where trailers of the mentioned film use the next logo.

In 2011, the CG was updated to match with the then new on-screen logo of 20th Century Fox from 2009.
This logo was also designed by Blue Sky Studios, and debuted in Win Win.
It was last seen in The Way Way Back, released on July 5, 2013.
2013–2019[]

After News Corporation split into 21st Century Fox and News Corp in 2013, the byline was permanently removed. This is the last logo of the company that used the name "Fox", before it was renamed as "Searchlight Pictures" in 2020. This logo first appeared in the film Enough Said, released on September 18, 2013, and last appeared in the film A Hidden Life released on December 13th, 2019.

On January 17, 2020, it was announced Fox Searchlight Pictures would change its name to simply "Searchlight Pictures", following Disney's purchase of 21st Century Fox's assets the year prior and likely to avoid confusion with the separate Fox Corporation. The opening sequence is exactly the same, with the most notable change that is the word “Fox” removed from the logo. Also in the changes are the Los Angeles cityscape being more realistic and bigger with greater depth, the sky being much different, and the mountains in the background being more layered. Also, the Hollywood sign is pushed up to resemble the one in real life. This new version was designed by MOCEAN in collaboration with Blue Sky Studios, showcased in the trailer for The French Dispatch and it officially debuted in the film Downhill on February 14, 2020. This logo is also used as the on-screen logo for Searchlight Pictures' home media releases.
