An NHL expansion team for Seattle was approved on December 4, 2018. This was a placeholder logo used until the team's name was formally announced.

2020–present[]
On July 23, 2020, the new name and logo for the franchise was unveiled. They were adopted to honor the city's maritime history. The team began play in the 2021-22 season.
