1994–2008[]
In November 2007, Seattle were granted an Major League Soccer franchise. On April 7, 2008, the new MLS franchise name was announced - Seattle Sounders FC. The USL Sounders folded after the 2008 season, with Sounders FC starting play in the 2009 MLS season.
