In June 1983, the emblem logo was introduced. It featured the Samtaegeuk pattern with centripetal and centrifugal forces and was designed by Yang Sung-Chun.
Later during 1983, the mascot was introduced as Hodori, a Amur tiger with a ribbon hat. Hodori was popular with Korean people and appeared in commercials and on toys, Hodori also had a sister named Honsuni. The mascot was designed by Kim Hyun.
The emblem logo was introduced in 1984 which became the basis for the original Paralympic symbol.

The Paralympic mascots were two bears named Gomdoori, both are tied together with a multicolor ribbon to symbolize co-operation and peaceful courage.
