In June 1983, the emblem logo was introduced. It featured the Samtaegeuk pattern with centripetal and centrifugal forces and was designed by Yang Sung-Chun.

Later during 1983, the mascot was introduced as Hodori, an Amur tiger with a ribbon hat. Hodori was popular with Korean people and appeared in commercials and on toys. Hodori also had a sister named Hosuni, which was used in less merch than Hodori. The mascot was designed by Kim Hyun. Hodori was also the mascot of the 1986 Asian Games which also took place in Seoul.
