The Seven-Eleven Memorial Foundation is an environmentalist organization that aims to improve the environment and support disaster recovery efforts throughout Japan. It was founded 20 years after the founding of Seven-Eleven Japan in 1993 by a handful of owners of franchised 7-Eleven stores in Japan who each wanted to help improve the environment in Japan.
Although a separate legal entity, it cooperates with SEJ, along with its holding company Seven & i Holdings and 7-Eleven store owners via donations; each 7-Eleven store in Japan has a wooden box where people can insert money, which then gets sent to SEJ's headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo, then transferred to the SEMF.
