BTQ-7 Brisbane began transmission on 1 November 1959. The callsign stood for Brisbane Television Queensland.

In 1989, BTQ-7 opened their new UHF channels on the Gold Coast. UHF-52 which covered much of the Gold Coast from Mt. Tambourine and UHF-39 which covered the Southern Gold Coast from Currumbin.
