ATN-7 Sydney began transmission on 2 December 1956. The callsign stood for Amalgamated Television New South Wales. A relay station would later open up at Kings Cross, Sydney on UHF-46.

This design is still used by many ABC affiliates and owned-and-operated stations in the United States. It would also be used by NTV-7 in Malaysia from 2001 to 2018.

ATN-7 adopted this logo at the start of the colour test transmissions on 19 October 1974. In February 1983, ATN-7 move their Kings Cross relay station to UHF-49 after ABN-2 and SBS both begin transmission from that translator, taking up UHF-46.
