In 1969, the Atlantic Richfield Company ([[ARCO]]) acquired the Sinclair Oil Corporation. A year later, they converted most of the Sinclair stations to the ARCO name, while retaining the Sinclair name in the Western United States and created a new logo for the brand. In 1972, ARCO sold Sinclair and this logo was dropped.
