Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, SkyTeam is a global airline alliance. It was founded in 2000 by Aeroméxico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air, in response to the formation of Star Alliance and Oneworld in 1997 and 1999, respectively.
Following the exit of China Southern Airlines—Asia’s biggest airline by fleet size and passengers carried—from the alliance on 1 January 2019, the alliance has 19 full members from every inhabited continent except Oceania.
Like the Star Alliance logo, this logo is painted between the cockpit window and the front door on all member airlines’ aircraft, except those painted in the special silver SkyTeam livery that was introduced in 2009. However, the Oneworld alliance differs in this respect: the logo appears between the front door and the first window, so as to be seen by passengers while boarding, and that too only on the left side of the aircraft for many airlines (since boarding always takes place through the left).
Alternative logo: 2010–present
