Sky 5 began transmission as Orange in December 1994 on UHF channel 7.

In 1998, the channel rebranded to Sky 1 and began broadcasting 24 hours a day upon the opening of the Sky Digital service. The UHF channel would continue to screen Cartoon Network during the day. This would be replaced in 2000 by Nickelodeon.

2008–2018[]
On 1 February 2008, Sky 1 relaunched and in the process rebranded again to The Box.
Sky 5[]
2018–present[]
On 2 February 2018, the channel rebranded again for the third time to Sky 5.
