In 1991 Premiere began broadcasting in Gemany, sharing many characteristics with Canal+'s analogue channels in France and Spain, most notably its encryption method.

In 1997 Premiere begun digital broadcasts, opening 2 aditional digital only channels in the process.
DF1[]
1996–1999[]
On July 28, 1996, a proper Pay TV service with multiple thematic channels was created as DF1 by Kirch-Gruppe, one the owners of Premiere, altough both services were initally not related at all beyond that.
Premiere World[]
1999–2002[]
Following Krich-Gruppe full acquisition of Premiere, on October 1, 1999, DF1 and Premiere merged to create a more robust offer of the digital service as Premiere World, including the creation of multiple packages and various Premiere branded channels, in addition to the creation of a german Disney Channel.
