The Sports Channel was launched in March 1990 as one of the five channels on BSB's satellite service. It was replaced by Sky Sports in April 1991.

Pre-launch[]
BETTER LOGO NEEDED
Before the launch, it originally consisted of a cloud background (which Sky dropped from all of its channels) with a globe superimposed over the 1991 Sky Sports text logo. This would later be used at the launch.
In November 1997, Sky Sports 1 began incorporating a rebrand across all of Sky's channels using the egg look, but on October 1, 1998, during the launch of Sky Digital, all (but one) of Sky's channels using the egg look has temporarily switched to the Sky Digital look.
With the launch of Sky Digital on 1 October 1998, Sky Sports got a new look.
2002–2007[]
In 2002, the logo was redesigned yet again (keeping the red and blue look but incorporating a new font).
2007–2009[]
HD simulcast logo
In 2007, the colours were inverted from red and blue, to blue and red in order to coincide with Sky Sports' new graphical change. The "1" also had a largely different font.
