South Central Bell was created in 1968 when Bell telephone operations in Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee were split off from Southern Bell.
1969–1984[]
1984–1995[]
South Central Bell and Southern Bell were officially reunited in 1992 when the two operations were combined as BellSouth Telecommunications. The two names continued to be used until 1995 when they were dropped in favor of BellSouth.
