South Western is the name given to the British railway franchise serving south central and south western England. The franchise was known as South West before its merger with the Island Line franchise in 2007.
South West Trains
Prior to the franchise being awarded to a private operator, the company continued to be operated by British Rail.
Stagecoach Group was awarded the franchise in 1996.
In 2007 the Island Line franchise was merged with the South Western Franchise, although it keeps its own branding.
