South Western is the name given to the British railway franchise serving south central and south western England. The franchise was known as South West before its merger with the Island Line franchise in 2007.

1994–1996
Prior to the franchise being awarded to a private operator, the company continued to be operated by British Rail.
1996–1997
Stagecoach Group was awarded the franchise in 1996.
1997–1998
1998–2017
In 2007 the Island Line franchise was merged with the South Western franchise, although it keeps its own branding.
On the 27 March 2017, it was announced that Stagecoach had lost the South Western franchise to a First/MTR consortium.
