Speedvision was launched on New Year's Day, January 1, 1996. Its launch identity was created by Novocom.

On February 4, 2002, Speedvision became Speed Channel and relaunched after its purchase by News Corporation.

2005–2011

In late 2005, SPEED Channel re-branded themselves as SPEED, cancelling some TV shows including NASCAR Nation. Sometime in 2007, the change became official, as the word "channel" was dropped from its logo.

2011–present

SPEED 2011

After the closure of the United States network, Speed is still available on select cable providers in Canada, the Caribbean and Puetro Rico.

2012–2013

On March 5, 2013, News Corporation announced that Speed would re-brand as a general sports network titled Fox Sports 1 on August 17, 2013.
