SpongeBoy Ahoy!

1996–1997 (concept)

SpongeBoy Ahoy!.svg

SpongeBob SquarePants was originally called SpongeBoy Ahoy! during the early development of the show. The title was scrapped to avoid copyright infringement with a mop that already used the name "SpongeBoy".
This logo was never finalized and was only seen in a storyboard page of the pilot episode.

In 1997, SpongeBoy Ahoy! was renamed SpongeBob SquarePants. This logo was only seen on the original version of the pilot episode in 1997 (which later was re-aired as the first episode of the series under the title of Help Wanted on May 1, 1999).

This logo is what fans call "The Colored DoodleBob." (post-Frankendoodle)  Despite the logo being changed slightly in 2016, this logo is still used in fullscreen episodes and on pre-2016 prints of widescreen episodes until the logo was changed that year.

Beginning in 2016, the "SpongeBob" text in the logo was made all-capital letters, similar to the logo seen on its pilot episode. The colors are brighter, too. This is used on newer prints of widescreen episodes.
