In 1914, the company adopted a logo consisting of a capital leter "D" for Detroit, enclosed in a square. The logo was stamped on all Square D's switches and products. The combination of an easily remembered monogram logo and their great popularity resulted in customers referring their products as "Square D".

This logo continues to be printed or stamped onto Square D products to this day.

In 1991, the company was bought by the French company Schneider Electric.
