Star! was launched on September 1, 2000 under the E! brand^[1]. Initially, it was available in the Nordic countries, but later broadcasting expanded to the Baltic States, Benelux and Iceland.

On May 1, 2010, Scandinavian company NonStop Television launched Showtime, Star! and Silver in South Africa through an exclusive distribution agreement with On Digital Media^[2]^[3]. In addition, the channel was launched in Ghana and East Africa (in partnership with Next Generation Broadcasting) on May 1^[4]^[5], and in Kenya and Uganda on June 1^[6]. However, as early as August 2010, the three channels were extended to Nigeria and West Africa (in partnership with Multimesh Broadcasting Company)^[7].

Star! Scandinavia was closed on July 15, 2015^[8].
