Star Bharat is a Hindi general entertainment channel in India that complements Disney Star’s flagship channel, Star Plus, along with Star Utsav. It was launched in 2004 as Star One and rebranded in 2011 as Life OK, before adopting its current name in 2017. Along with Star Plus, it competes with Zee TV, Sony TV, Colors and Sony Sab. In 2022 it was repositioned as a romance-focused channel.

The word Bharat means India in several Indian languages, and is also used in the names of other channels such as Republic Bharat and TV9 Bharatvarsh.

Launched:  1 November 2004

Star One was launched on 1 November 2004, a few months after Star Utsav, and positioned as a youth-centric channel for urban audiences. The logo for the American feed did not have the STAR mark above the word one.

Designer:  venturethree

Launched:  18 December 2011

Star One was renamed to Life OK on 18 December 2011. The new brand was created by venturethree, who had already rebranded Star Plus in 2010, and later rebranded Star Jalsha and the Star Sports network. St Ryde was the on-screen typeface.

It was one of two channels to use Star's OK brand, created for urban-focused content aimed at a progressive Indian audience; the other was Movies OK, which was launched in May 2012. In response, rival network Zee created the & brand in 2013, starting with &pictures, a Hindi movie channel like Movies OK.

Typography:  Mukta
Launched:  28 August 2017

Life OK was renamed to Star Bharat on 28 August 2017, thus leaving Movies OK to be the only Star channel using the OK brand until 1 February 2020, when it was renamed to Star Gold 2. The free Mukta font was used in on-air typography in both Devanagari and English. The channel’s tagline was Bhula De Dar, Kuchh Alag Kar (Forget Fear, Do Something Different).

Initially Star Bharat was available on the government-owned DD Free Dish, but after its removal from the platform on 1 March 2019 along with some other pay-TV channels, it has suffered from low ratings, especially compared to Star Plus, the most popular Hindi pay-TV channel.

On 22 January 2021, Star Bharat in the UK and Europe was renamed to Utsav Bharat, along with the UK and Europe versions of Star Plus and Star Gold, which were renamed to Utsav Plus and Utsav Gold, respectively. However, the names of these channels in India and other regions continue to use the Star brand.

Star Bharat 2022

Typography:  Noto Sans Devanagari (graphics)
Launched:  25 July 2022

Star Bharat rebranded with a new logo and graphics package on 25 July 2022, during the finale of the wedding reality show Swayamvar: Mika Di Vohti. The new slogan is Dil Deke Dekho Zara (Give Your Heart and See). This coincided with its repositioning as a romance-oriented channel. At the same time, Utsav Bharat, the UK and Europe version of the channel, introduced the new graphics and slogan.

The Star wordmark in the logo is no longer uppercase, but is now identical to the Star wordmark in the logos of Star Jalsha, Star Pravah, Star Suvarna and the newly-launched Star Kiran. The new graphics package is based on colourful flowing saree-like textiles against a light blue background, the same colour that was adopted by Star Suvarna during its rebrand in late 2020.
