This article is about the Indian TV channel. For the Southeast Asian TV channel formerly known as Star World, see Fox Life (Asia).

Star World is an English general entertainment channel (GEC) in India; it complements the HD-only Star World Premiere HD and, formerly, FX. It was launched to fill the gap when Star Plus transformed from an English GEC to a Hindi GEC in July 2000.

Star World’s main competitors are ZEEL’s Zee Café and Viacom18’s Colors Infinity and Comedy Central, as well as Sony’s AXN until its shutdown on 30 June 2020. (Disney International HD was once another competitor, but it is now an indirect sister channel to Star World after The Walt Disney Company acquired Star in March 2019.)

The logo in India has remained unchanged since 2008 when all the Star World channels in Asia and the Middle East rebranded. However, the graphics package was changed once, in 2015.

Star World in India has used the same logo since 2008, unlike its Asian counterpart, which used several logos before being rebranded to Fox Life on 1 October 2017. In India, Star World and Fox Life are different channels.

The current graphics package was introduced on 1 January 2015.

Star World HD India

Star World launched an HD feed on 15 April 2011 along with Star Plus, Star Gold and Star Movies. These channels, along with National Geographic Channel HD (which had been launched in 2010), were branded by the Star network as Asli HD (real HD) channels, since India had only just been introduced to high-definition television in 2010.
