Encore Westerns was launched as Westerns in September 1994, alongside Mystery and Love Stories, as the first three of the seven multiplex channels to be launched.

In March 2005, Westerns was relaunched as Encore Westerns; at the same time, Encore launched a new logo and on-air look across all seven of its channels, featuring a modified starburst mark (which is rendered in different colors, depending on channel; the starburst mark in Encore Westerns' logo is burnt orange), and the channel name now rendered in Helvetica Neue Black and Helvetica Neue.
