Starz in Black was originally launched on February 1, 1997 as BET Movies: Starz!, a joint venture between Starz! and cable network BET.

2001–2005[]
In February 2001, the channel was rebranded as Black Starz!, after BET opted out of the joint venture following its purchase by Viacom.
Starz InBlack[]
2005–2008[]
On March 28, 2005, the network underwent another brand refresh as part of Starz' concurrent global rebrand, changing its name to Starz InBlack.

2008–2016[]
On April 7, 2008, the channel received a new logo as part of another major rebrand of the Starz line-up, changing its name to its current stylization.
2016–2022[]
On April 5, 2016, the network received another new logo, coinciding with the rebrand of the rest of the Starz family on the same day.
