The store's now familiar star motif was introduced in 1996, as part of a company-wide refresh, which also saw the adoption of the tagline "The Real Beauty is the Price".
In 2001, Dutch pharmaceutical company Kruidvat acquired Superdrug from previous owners Kingfisher. Subsequently, Kruidvat, including Superdrug, would be acquired by the A.S. Watson group, a subsidiary of Hutchinson, in 2002. As such, the store began using the tagline "Health and Beauty from A.S. Watson" to signify its new ownership.
