Until 1993, Swisscom and Swiss Post were part of state-owned post and telecommunications company called PTT.
This legendary PTT-Logo using the Swiss cross was designed by Martin Altenburger and famous Swiss typographer Adrian Frutiger.
This logo (using the typeface Frutiger) was introduced when the old PTT was split into two separate companies: Telecom PTT (to become Swisscom) and Swiss Post. The design was only to be an intermediary solution until the rebrand to Swisscom.
In 1997, Telecom PTT finally became Swisscom and got a new logo. The company colours were changed from yellow/red to blue/red to achieve a greater distinction between the postal service and the new Swisscom.
A new logo and identity was created in late 2007 by Moving Brands and introduced in 2008.
