T-Mobile is the third-largest mobile network operator in the United States, after 3 legacy carriers (AT&T, Verizon Communications and UScellular). It is the only mobile network operator owned by Deutsche Telekom outside of Europe. In 2020, it completed its merger with competitor Sprint, leaving the United States with 4 major carriers (plus a smaller, 5th carrier owned by Dish Network).

The United States is the only country where Deutsche Telekom still uses the full T-Mobile logo and wordmark as all other operating countries use the shortened "T" logo (save the U.K., Greece and Austria, as they both presently carry completely different names).

Launched:  June 2001

Following Deutsche Telekom's buyout of VoiceStream Wireless PCS in June 2001, the word "Wireless" in its logo was replaced with the transitional byline "Global Wireless by T-Mobile", with "T-Mobile" being rendered in what would become the following logo, all as the then-new parent would end up integrating it into the T-Mobile family of services that, until then, were exclusively served in portions of Europe. The merger became official in July 2002.[2]

Launched:  September 2, 2001

The T-Mobile name began coming to the U.S. when VoiceStream's legal name became T-Mobile USA, Inc. (now known as T-Mobile US, Inc., following its merger with MetroPCS) on September 2, 2001. The then-new brand was initially exclusive to the states of California and Nevada, before eventually expanding nationwide the following year, when the VoiceStream name was finally discontinued and fully replaced.

Until late August 2013, this was used in tandem with the next one as it was still used on the carrier's website 5 months after the logo was updated.

This still appears at various stores, but is gradually being phased out as their signage and other inner branding are being updated to the current logo. This was also still used at its Bellevue, WA headquarters until 2020, when it was updated to the current logo as part of a renovation there.

On March 25, 2013, as part of an "Un-carrier" move,[3] T-Mobile's logo went all-magenta, albeit in a lighter shade.

Like before, this still appears at various stores (and even on SIM cards), but is gradually being phased out as their signage and other inner branding are being updated to the current logo.

Launched:  February 2, 2020

On February 2, 2020 (pending its merger with Sprint), T-Mobile debuted a new look. This one is the same as the 2013 logo, but the magenta color is darker, the wordmark is bolder, and the dotted line was shortened to two dots instead of five. Additionally, a new version of the carrier's iconic 5-note jingle was introduced.

In 2022, T-Mobile debuted a modified logo, with the updated 'T' logo first used by Deutsche Telekom, a darker shade of magenta, and a slightly bolder wordmark.
