TNT logo 1982

Before it was launched in 1988, Turner Network Television actually first started out in 1982 as the name that Turner Broadcasting originally used as a syndication service. In this particular case, it was used for sporting events. The service was used for two exhibition games organized by the NFL Players Association during the NFL strike in 1982, as well as the first Goodwill Games.

1988–1995

TNT

In 1995, Turner Network Television dropped its full name and went on simply by TNT. This logo's design usage was coincidental with the launch of WCW Monday Nitro, and dropped following the shutdown of World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

2001–2016

TNT (2001)

On June 12, 2001, the same year that the channel's parent company Time Warner was purchased by America Online, TNT underwent an extensive rebrand, a repositioning of the network that Bradley Siegel, then-president of Turner Entertainment Networks, explained had emerged through extensive focus group research with frequent TNT viewers.

The rebrand saw the introduction of a new logo designed by Trollbäck & Company and the new slogan "We Know Drama", which emphasized the channel's new focus on dramatic programming, including sports and off-network syndicated dramas. In 2012, the channel was given the new slogan "Drama. Period.", with the logo serving as the period in the sentence. On May 14, 2014, the slogan was changed to "Boom", concurrent with the adoption of the newer slogan "TNT Drama".

2016–present

TNT 2016

In January 2016, TNT began slowly phasing in a new logo on social media and in promos. The logo is the same as the last time, except the circle is filled, the letters are zoomed in and fused together. The current logo was officially introduced in January 30 of that year, during the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
