TSR, Inc. (TSR) was established in 1983 as the primary legal successor to TSR Hobbies, Inc. when the company was split into four separate legal entities.
In 1997, TSR was facing many troubles, including being over $30 million in debt and laying off 30 staff members in December of the previous year. Later in 1997, the company was sold to Wizards of the Coast. As part of the acquisition, Wizards of the Coast settled TSR's debts. Wizards eventually closed the TSR corporate offices in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and the TSR brand name would continue to be used until 2000 when it would ultimately be discontinued. The trademark for the TSR name would later expire in 2004.
