TVA Digisat was founded in 1995, after the main TVA cable competitor, NET, founded its own satellite service: NETSAT, replacing Globosat, who spent just program the channels prior to broadcast exclusively in NETSAT. In 2000, the service was incorporated to DirecTV Brasil. Digisat is a is a portmanteau of the words digital and satélite (Portuguese for satellite).
