In August 1992, the station was renamed TV Cidade, derived from its sister radio station Cidade FM, as a result of the sale of Rádio Ribamar to the former governor of Maranhão Luiz Rocha, who puchased 50% ownership stake of the Grupo Cidade de Comunicação in 1987. TV Cidade maintained its affiliation with Rede Bandeirantes until 2000, and after passing through Rede Mulher (august–december 2000) and RedeTV! (2000–2004), it became an affiliate of Rede Record in 2004. After the name change, the station's logo began to contain a mirrored sphere surrounded by two triple semicircles in red and green, resembling Saturn's rings.
